For mosques, Islamic centres and independent imams

Every nikkah numbered, signed and kept.

MyNikkahMate keeps your nikkah register: the couple, their fathers, the attorney and the witnesses, their ID photos, the mahr and the fee, the checks, everyone’s signature on the device, and the nikkah nama printed with your own header or emailed to the couple, whether you record a dozen nikkahs a year or several hundred.

Free 30-day trial, no card needed. Then £9.99 a year. No adverts. No tracking.

The MyNikkahMate logo: two interlocked rings in gold with the groom and the bride inside them and a diamond on the right ring, on a plum tile.
A register you can trust: a registered entry is frozen, never edited, never deleted, never swept.
What it does

The paper register, without the paper

MyNikkahMate replaces the register book in the office, the loose nikkah nama forms, the photocopies of passports in a drawer and the reminders scattered across your calendar.

  • A numbered register

One entry per nikkah with the date, the venue and the officiant. Register gives it the next number in your book, continuing from your existing register with your own prefix, and from then on the entry cannot be changed: a mistake is voided and re-entered, as in a paper register.

  • The couple, the attorney and the witnesses

The groom and the bride with their fathers, dates of birth and marital status, the attorney for the bride (wakil), two witnesses for each side or more, and the officiant. A photo of everyone’s ID, front and back, stays on the entry.

  • Signatures on the device

Everyone on the entry signs on your phone or tablet, and each signature prints in its own box on the nikkah nama with the date and time. Nothing can be registered until every line is signed.

  • The nikkah nama, printed or emailed

A PDF with your institution’s name, address, charity number, logo and header lines, a second header line in Urdu, Arabic or Bengali if you want one, English labels with the Urdu and Arabic beside them as on the paper form, and copies emailed to the groom, the bride and anyone else you name.

  • Mahr and fee

The mahr with its terms: paid at the ceremony, prompt, deferred or part paid, and your notes as written on the form. The nikkah fee and when it was paid.

  • Before the nikkah

A checklist on every entry: ID seen and photographed, both parties 18 or over, the bride’s consent given freely, the witnesses present, the mahr agreed and written down, the fee received. Mark an item not needed, add your own, and the app refuses to register a nikkah where the groom or the bride is under 18.

  • Documents with expiry reminders

A decree absolute, death certificate, consent letter, civil marriage certificate or conversion certificate on the entry it belongs to; your officiants’ authorisations; your charity registration, insurance and premises licence. You’ll get a nudge before anything runs out.

  • Your institution and your officiants

Your name as printed, your address and charity number, your logo, your header and footer lines and the number your register continues from. Your officiants and their registration numbers, printed under their signature line.

  • Works offline, kept for ever

No signal in the hall or at the family’s home? The phone app keeps everything on your device and syncs when you’re back online. Your register, photos and signatures are kept safe with your account, so a new phone or a second phone has everything, and the register is never deleted while your account exists.

How it fits together

Record the nikkah as it happens

  1. Enter The couple, their fathers, the attorney for the bride and the witnesses, with a photo of each ID; the mahr, the fee and the officiant.
  2. Check Run “Before the nikkah”: identity seen, both parties of age, consent, witnesses, mahr agreed.
  3. Sign Everyone signs on your phone or tablet, each with a one-line declaration.
  4. Register The entry takes the next number in your book and is frozen. Print the nikkah nama and email the copies.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does it work without a phone signal?

Yes. The iPhone and Android apps store everything on your phone first, so you can enter a nikkah, photograph the IDs, run the checks, collect the signatures and register the entry with no signal at all. Your changes sync the next time you have a connection. Only the printed nikkah nama and the emailed copies need a connection, because they are made by our servers.

Who is it for?

Mosques, Islamic centres and independent imams in the UK who conduct nikkahs and keep the register: a small community mosque that records a dozen a year in a paper book, a town mosque with a hundred and fifty a year and two imams, a large centre or umbrella body with several hundred a year across several officiants. One account is one institution’s register; its entries are seen by nobody else.

Is this a civil marriage registration?

No. MyNikkahMate keeps your institution’s own record of the religious ceremony and prints its nikkah nama. It does not register a marriage with the civil authorities and does not replace a civil ceremony or certificate; the religious ceremony, the checks and the paperwork remain your institution’s responsibility. The checklist has a place to record whether a civil marriage has taken place, and a civil marriage certificate can be kept on the entry.

Can a registered entry be changed?

No. Once an entry is registered it is frozen: its people, their signatures and their ID photos cannot be edited or deleted, and the register is never swept, even if you stop subscribing. A mistake is corrected the way a paper register corrects it: void the entry with a reason, and record a new one (the app copies the people and the mahr across for you). Notes, extra photos, documents and checks can still be added to a registered entry.

Is my data private?

Yes. There are no adverts, no analytics or tracking tools, and we never sell your data. If the app crashes, it sends us a crash report without personal details so we can fix the problem. The app never uses your location.

The ID photos, signatures and details of the people on your entries are personal data your institution records and controls; we store and sync them for you, privately to your account, and nobody else can see them. Read the full privacy policy.

Are the photos, signatures and documents backed up?

Yes. Every ID photo, signature, scanned copy and document file is backed up to your account in cloud storage, so they open on your other devices too and print on the nikkah nama. Photos are compressed to under 1 MB and PDFs can be up to 2 MB. Add one with no signal and it uploads when you’re back online.

You can also share or export any file from the phone app, and export the whole register as a zip whenever you like.

How do I delete my account?

In the app, go to More → Your data → Delete my account. The app offers an export first, then asks you to type your institution’s name, because this permanently deletes the whole register and everything in it. If you can’t get into the app, see how to delete your account for other ways to ask us.

How much does it cost?

MyNikkahMate is free to download and comes with a 30-day free trial, no card needed. After that it’s £9.99 a year, less than 20p a week, for your whole register. You subscribe in the iPhone or Android app, through the App Store or Google Play. The subscription renews every year, and you can cancel any time in your App Store or Google Play settings.

If you don’t subscribe, your account becomes read-only: you can still see, print and export everything, and your register is kept for as long as your account exists.

How many nikkahs can I record?

Up to 2,000 nikkahs per register, with as many officiants and documents as you need. A larger institution or an older register to import? Email us.

How many photos and files can I keep?

Every account includes 5 GB of storage for photos, signatures and PDFs, which is room for the ID photos of thousands of entries. Each nikkah, each person on it, each document and your institution holds up to 12 photos or files, and your institution has its logo. The app shows what you’ve used under More → Your data.
